Summer Reading Program

Unearth a Story this summer with the Agnes Robinson Waterloo Public Library! Read books, win cool prizes, and participate in exciting programs both at the library and around town. The program will begin on June 1 and end on August 1. Our official kickoff party is on June 1!

Programs are for library cardholders and are always FREE. Not a library member yet? No problem! Sign up is easy. Stop in the library or sign up for a library card online here.

How to Participate:

1. Anytime on or after June 1, stop by the library to pick up your registration packet with our event calendar, reading logs, and the registration page. (You must have a library card to participate. Sign up for a library card here or in person.)
2. Fill out the registration page and return it to the library by bringing it to the front desk.
3. Read! And fill out your reading log as you do so.
4. Win! For each section of the reading log you finish, you win prizes. If you complete the entire reading log, you get an entry into a grand prize drawing AND a free book (for children and teens).

EVENT LEGO Club
DESCRIPTION Every Tuesday is LEGO CLUB! Join us on Tuesdays to complete building challenges or free build. All ages welcome! We have Mega Bloks available for preschool & younger aged children.

EVENT Movie Matinees
DESCRIPTION Get ready for a new adventure every week. We’ll provide the cushions, popcorn, & drinks all you need to bring is a blanket! We are watching

EVENT EXPLORE with Us
DESCRIPTION Join us weekly for STREAM (science, technology, reading, engineering, art, & math). Every week is a new activity. Everyone is welcome.

Every Thursday at 10 AM
EVENT Storytime
DESCRIPTION Join us on Thursday mornings for picture book adventures. Afterwards you can enjoy a snack and an activity. All ages welcome – books are geared toward toddlers.

Story Walk
Take a stroll and enjoy a story or two! Head to the Waterloo Trail near Memorial Park to read as you walk. Two books, one short trail. Remember to sign our digital guest book! (0.6 miles round trip)

EVENT AIM Brain Tech-Tacular
DESCRIPTION With the help of AIM Brain Exchange we will explore Technology in a fun and interactive way. This month will either be robots or drones. Ask the week of or follow on Facebook for up-to-date information.

EVENT Read to a Dog
DESCRIPTION Join us July 6 & 20 to meet Bart and his owner & enjoy reading out loud to Bart.

EVENT T-Rex Tea Party
DESCRIPTION Come join us for a Tea Party with a T-Rex twist! Join us for games, refreshments, and fun. All participants are encouraged to dress in their fanciest attire, adding a prehistoric twist like T-Rex tail or even a full dinosaur costume.
Registration requested but not required. Registration will help us gauge the number of place settings.

DESCRIPTION An adult monthly book club. One book is selected each month and then discussed at the next club date. Ask us about joining this club!

EVENT Omaha Children’s Museum Presents Diggin’ Dinos
DESCRIPTION Be a paleontologist and learn about dinosaurs and fossils in this program! Read a story, dig for fossils, play dinosaur games, and create your own fossils in this interactive program that is sure to be Dino-mite!

EVENT Crafternoon
DESCRIPTION Adults and teens interested in crafting and/or socializing are welcome. This month we will make cross stitch bookmarks. RSVPs to a librarian are requested but not required. Follow our event on Facebook for more details.

DESCRIPTION Stop by the library for free coffee, treats, & conversation on the last Saturday of every month. Open to all over 55.

EVENT Gallery 92 West “Paper Bag Book” Art Class
AGES Ages 7-12 Years
DESCRIPTION We will have a brief lesson on the history of bookmaking/binding. Then, we’ll create a beautiful memory keepsake book using brown paper sacks, ribbons and a variety of precut scrapbook paper. These books are great for writing your stories in, or for storing your treasures! Registration required – limited to 15 participants.

EVENT Pokémon Club
DESCRIPTION Join a community of Pokémon fans with Pokémon Club, tailored for school age Pokémon fans. Pokémon Club attendees can learn, play, and connect through the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) and other activities. Beginners welcome. No registration necessary.

EVENT Kids Dinosaur Puzzle Race
DESCRIPTION How fast can you complete at 100 piece puzzle? Join this Puzzle Race and find out. Each kid will leave with their own puzzle. Registration requested but not required. Non-registrants may not get their own puzzle.
